"Still, as a team, we made things happen, from weekly bocce ball competitions to Sports Days at the coliseum and Christmas performances at the mall, we showcased the children and brought them out into the open. I dressed up as Mrs. Claus every year and Jesuit Brother Virginio with his long white beard played Santa. Pilipinas Shell Foundation provided presents and Mr. Donut gave us hundreds of donuts as children sang and danced on the central stage at Robinson’s Mall. Because special children were misunderstood and often shunned, just exposing the community to them was a step forward. With all our efforts and seeming national progress forward, it is hard to hear that the new Marcos government has zero funds allocated to special education in 2023."
