Heaven-Sent!

One morning while I was still in bed, I heard a thud and loud mewling. Walking into the yard, I found that someone had tossed a tiny kitten over my glass-shard wall. Allergic to cats, I still loved him immediately and thought he was heaven-sent. Lucky that he wasn’t in a sack, drowning at the bottom of the river, he arrived bruised. Black and white with a smudged white nose, he was an indoor cat from the moment I found him. The kitten followed me around the house and onto my keyboard – he could lay in a teacup he was so little. A week later I found him playing with an enormous mole cricket that was flying about. A mole cricket is the ugliest bug I’ve ever seen and was nearly as big as the kitten. The bug looked on its last legs and the kitten swatted at it. He munched on it before I could grab it away...yuck."
